Richard Hammond's Car Confidential
Author(s): Richard Hammond
Richard Hammond's inside guide to modern motoring is packed with witty advice and anecdotes - from the sublime to the ridiculous
Car Confidential is a must for anyone even remotely interested in cars.
It includes an enormous variety of hints and tips: car and traffic etiquette, how to buy a car, how to avoid giving murderers a lift, the seven ages of the motorist from learning how to drive when you are 18 to driving the wrong way down motorways when you are 80, a spotter's guide to motorists in the style of a WW2 manual, customizing - what is OK and what isn't, organising that last journey - cool hearses to be buried in, and the alternative guide to road rage.
There are lots of top tens of everything - well, this being Richard it will be top 8's and top 11's, but they will average out - such as the top 10 noble failures: did you know that Chrysler put out a car aimed at women called the 'Femme' which came in one colour, shocking pink, with matching shocking pink handbag and lipstick? Or the top 10 mad foreign road signs, and another on the wackiest highway codes. And that's not all.
It also includes a 'What Not to Drive 2007' update, covering all the new cars in a cut-out-and-keep guide - everything a petrol-head needs to know. The odd, the mad, the bad, the curious or ridiculous are all here in this wonderful, witty and incredibly useful compendium of everything to do with cars and their drivers - all we ever needed to know about the modern world of motoring.
Richard Hammond has star quality - reflected in his rapidly growing media presence. WHAT NOT TO DRIVE sold over 70,000 copies in hardback.
'Confidential's stuffed with his unique wit on just about everything to do with motoring.' LADSMAG (October 2006) 'a combination of advice on the stages of your motoring life, humour and entertaining facts - perfect pub quiz fodder.' AUTOTRADER.CO.UK
