Nutrition Manual for Developing Rowers

Author(s): Lea Stening

Sport/Transport

Developing young rowers are an incredibly challenging group to work with because they are usually in the middle of adolescence and experiencing considerable physical and emotional change. For the best long-term results in rowing performance, it does pay to introduce sports nutrition early, when bones and muscles are developing and patterns of eating behaviour, techniques and routines are being established. Healthy eating habits are easier to mould at this stage when young people are still living in a supportive home environment rather than when they have left home and perhaps gone flatting.
