Description

A blueprint for writing creative nonfiction-and getting it sold Creative nonfiction is writing that seeks to tell true stories in a style as personal, provocative, and dramatic as fiction. Lee Gutkind, a pioneer in writing and teaching creative nonfiction, explores all facets of writing in this increasingly popular genre-which includes essays, criticism, literary journalism, memoir, narrative history, and more. Gutkind discusses everything from finding a saleable subject to creative research to writing techniques. He then turns his attention to getting the work in print, with tips on how to approach book and magazine publishers, work with editors, and find an agent. LEE GUTKIND (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) is a professor at the University of Pittsburgh. He founded two literary journals-Pennsylvania Review and Creative Nonfiction-and has written 5 previous books, including the award-winning Many Sleepless Nights.
