Internationally award-winning Adelheid Dahimene was born in Austria in 1956. She writes for children and young people as well as for adults, including several picture books with Heide Stollinger. For Indie Underground she was awarded the 1998 Austrian State Prize for Children's Literature and in 2002 the Honourable Prize for Children's Books. Heide Stollinger was born in Austria in 1941, and studied at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. Many of her picture books published in collaboration with Adelheid Dahimene have won prizes, including the Illustration award of the Austrian State Prize for Children's Literature 1998 and 2003, and the Golden Apple of the Biennale Bratislava, 1999. She was nominated for the honours list for the Hans Christian Andersen Prize in 2000. Catherine Chidgey, now living in Dunedin, lived and studied in Berlin in the 1990s. In a Fishbone Church won Best First Book at the Montana New Zealand Book Awards and the Commonwealth Writer's Prize (Asia-Pacific region), and the Betty Trask Prize in the UK. Donkeys is the first time she has translated a children's book, working with children's book editor and author, Penelope Todd.
