Description

This book is a resource to assist people facing infertility in all its stages and forms to create ceremony and ritual that will help them find their own way to peace and acceptance. Personal stories and examples of ceremony are included, as it is often not easy to find this information elsewhere. It is a resource for infertile people, counsellors, spiritual companions, celebrants and clergy, health professionals working in the field of reproductive medicine and family and friends of those who are infertile.

Author description

Christine Bannan - In 1994 Gilbert and I decided to create a ceremony to acknowledge our life of infertility. In doing so, we broke old ground by reclaiming the wisdom of a lost tradition which proved to be life-enhancing for us. As co-author of this book the credential I offer is my life experience of living the infertility journey. Across these pages, I hope to encounter fellow travellers with warmth and a smile of recognition.

Winnie Duggan - Experience of infertility treatment over many years in our quest to become parents, along with my work as an infertility counsellor, has made me aware of the need to find our own ways to express what is happening for each of us. I gradually became conscious of how ceremony in particular provides a way of acknowledging stages in the infertility journey.
