Philip's Junior Atlas of New Zealand & the World has been specially created for 8-11 year olds in New Zealand. This atlas, ideal for pupils at primary schools, is an authoritative first introduction to the world of maps.

The introductory section describes the meaning of scale, how to measure distances using the maps, and explains the symbols on the maps.

The following section is devoted to New Zealand. Thematic maps cover topics such as the physical environment, climate and weather, population, cities and towns, and work. Regional maps of New Zealand complete the section.

The rest of the atlas is made up of world thematic maps and world continental maps. Included are topics such as the world's climate, vegetation, agriculture, transport and energy, and environmental concerns.
