Description

Following his adventures at the beach, Winston, the long-haired miniature dachshund, finds himself in another new world: the mountains. With his long hair and short legs, Winston soon discovers he is in his element in the snow. When Jack wants to head back, Winston wants to go faster, further and higher. But pride comes before a fall and it is loyal Jack who leads his little friend back to warmth and safety.

Author description

Debby Heard is a professional photographer specialising in photographs of children and animals. She has had a lifelong fascination with photography, setting up her first dark room aged 13. After completing a BA in English at Canterbury University, Debby entered the Post-Graduate School of Journalism as a senior scholar in 1982. Realising she was not cut out to be a journalist, she left the course to start a Masters degree in English. Debby subsequently worked for the Christchurch Arts Festival before entering Radio NZ as a trainee broadcaster. She and her husband, Guy, spent 12 years farming at Greta Valley, North Canterbury, during which time Debby started her photography business. They now live in Ohoka with their two daughters and their dogs. Sue Allison is a journalist. She has a BA (Hons, 1st class) in Anthropology from Otago University, and Post-Graduate Diploma of Journalism from Canterbury University. Sue spent 15 years working in newspaper journalism, many of them as a subeditor at the Christchurch Star.
