Description

This is possibly the most significant monograph on a New Zealand architectural practice ever published - in fact it is only the third ever.
ARCHITECTUS is New Zealand's pre-eminent contemporary architecture firm.
Started more than twenty years ago by Patrick Clifford, Malcolm Bowes and Michael Thomson, it has just about won every New Zealand Institute of Architects Awards for architecture. Many of the practice's buildings have
become modern New Zealand architectural icons. Their work has been published extensively in books and magazines in New Zealand, Australia and around the world. It recently moved into the international arena by uniting with a
group of Australian architects to form offices in Auckland, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane - with connections to other practices around the world.
This very high quality monograph covers their most important buildings from residential houses, public buildings, community buildings and commercial offices. In all it features twelve projects with excellent colour
photography (interior and exterior) with insightful texts, often taken from magazine reviews and criticisms. Each project also features detailed plans and sketches.
In addition there are two critical essays written by the head of the school of architecture, Unitec, Auckland and one of New Zealand's most respected architecture historians, David Lloyd Jenkins who writes regularly for New Zealand's largest daily newspaper and has had his own television series. There are also three interviews with the partners of ARCHITECTUS on design, technology and modelling.

Among the projects covered are:

Clifford/Forsyth House

Sciences Library, University of Canterbury

Jade Sports Stadium

St Peter's School new Technology Building

New Lynn Community Centre

Population Health Complex: University of Auckland, Tamaki Campus.

This superb monograph will give anyone is interested in architecture a fantastic glimpse of what is happening in New Zealand and a thorough insight into the work of Architectus: Bowes Clifford Thomson.
