This year's theme, 'National Anthems', is inspired by the Olympic Rings-representing the five inhabited continents of the world. Five national anthems have been chosen, including the host nation (Great Britain), representing these different continents of the world-Europe, Australasia, Asia, Africa and the Americas. The anthems are 'Advance Australia Fair', 'O Canada', the South African National Anthem, the Japanese National Anthem, and 'God Save the Queen'.
