The A to Z of Modern Manners: A Guide to Behaving Well

Author(s): David Meagher

Some clear guidelines to navigate a rapidly changing world. Change is now constant. The world is faster than ever before. The way we live and interact with one another has changed significantly. Social media is all-pervasive. Everyone from the author's 85 year-old mother to his 13 year-old niece is using it in some way. Misbehave on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or any other social networking site and the evidence and influence of your post lives in perpetuity. Today it's perfectly acceptable to text the boss and let him or her know you are sick or need leave or whatever else is happening. In fact, waste the boss's time with a phonecall? You wouldn't do it! Man about town of impeccable manners and intuition David Meagher, in warm and witty prose, shares with us the guidelines for co-existing and working in a stylish and harmonious manner.

Product Information

David Meagher is the editor of WISH Magazine, the executive lifestyle magazine of The Australian. It is the glossy, fancy publication that falls out of The Australian one Friday each month. He also works across their other magazine publications. In other incarnations he has been fashion editor at the fancy AFR magazine and a writer across the paper as well as working in PR and he has a PhD in cultural studies. For a while he wrote a monthly column for AFR BOSS magazine on etiquette issues related to business dealings, from the manner in which you exchange business cards with Japanese executives to the Windsor double knot. Related to that column, in 2005 we wrote a book for us titled It's Not Etiquette: a guide to modern manners. It was a combination of history and advice. The Weekend Australian has asked him to now write a similar kind of column. I have attached a couple of them for your reference.
