Sarah Ell is an avid sailor, regularly competing at club and national level. A journalist by trade, she was the editor of Boating New Zealand and Boating Quarterly magazines in the 1990s. She has also written three novels for young adults and a beginners' guide to dinghy sailing published in the UK, South Africa and Australia.
