Disobedience

Author(s): Naomi Alderman

Fiction

I very much enjoyed this book - a warm, intimate portrayal of a young woman, Ronit, caught between two worlds. Through Ronit, Naomi Alderman explores theme of sexuality, tolerance and faith. When her father, an eminent rabbi passes away, Ronit returns to London for the funeral after almost a decade away. She finds a commnity where much has changed and all is not as it appears.

Shortlisted for the Orange Prize New Writers, Disobedience won the category just as Diana Evans did the year before for her stunning novel '26A'.
First published 2006.
