Joe Friedman was born in Chicago to deaf parents. He has written stories since he was seven and sold his first play at 13. He currently lives in north London with his wife and daughter, and divides his time between writing and working as a psychotherapist. The Boobela books are his first published titles. Sam Childs is the pseudonym of Susie Jenkin-Pearce who has enjoyed a long and distinguished career as an illustrator of internationally-renowned picture books. Sam Childs is a pseudonym.
