Poem-a-Day: 365 Poems for Every Occasion

Author(s): Academy of American Poets

Poetry

The Academy of American Poets has curated an anthology of poetry based on their popular Poem-a-Day program--a prominent feature on poets.org with tens of thousands of email subscribers. Loosely organised according to the flow and themes of the seasons, this collection is designed to encourage the daily practice of reading poetry. Wherever possible, classic and contemporary poems on a similar theme are juxtaposed, suggesting a "conversation" between two works. Since poetry is sought out for speeches and toasts, the book also includes an index of poems by occasion (marriage, holidays, mourning, luck), which the Academy has curated according to the most frequently searched occasions on their site.
