The Runaway Settlers
Author(s): Elsie Locke
It's 1859 and the poverty-stricken Small family arrive in Lyttelton from Australia to start a new life, on the run from a cruel husband/father. But there are adventures ahead as they settle in to a rat-ridden cob cottage and turn it and several acres of rough land into a home and farm. Locke's exciting pioneer story is still as relevant today as it was when first published in 1965. A great story to read aloud.
